Description:
Pale anemones are general white to tan or brown in color and often live in
dense aggregations. Approximately 1 inch in height,
pale anemones may have as many as 100 tentacles. Most tentacles are
short, and are intermixed with long ones. The oral disc usually
measures 3/8 inch. This species is considered a pest in marine
aquaria.
Habitat:
Typical habitats for pale anemones are shallow water areas having
hard substrates such as rocks and mangrove roots, especially those of the red mangrove,
Rhizophora mangle. This species is locally common in some
areas of the Indian River Lagoon.
Range:
Pale anemones range from the southeastern U.S. through the Caribbean.
