and flat in appearance. The foot is broad and fleshy. Adult males
range in size from 0.04 - 0.31 inches, while females range from 0.19 - 0.63
inches.
Habitat:
Crepidula cf. plana is located intertidally to subtidally
in areas having low wave exposure, and slow-flowing water conditions.
C. cf. plana are commonly
found inside the empty shells of whelks and moon snails, but prefer epibenthic
lifestyles in oyster reefs.
Similar Species:
The eastern white slippersnail, Crepidula cf. plana, is similar to Crepidula plana but has
direct development as opposed to a short planktonic stage. The 2 species are
similar in appearance, but C. cf. plana is significantly smaller,
measuring only 5 - 8 mm in length.

Crepidula cf. plana ranges
from eastern
Canada to the Gulf of Mexico. It is found throughout the Indian River Lagoon.
